Introducing Dr. Andrea Methven

Introducing Dr. Andrea Methven

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Andrea Methven has joined the Two Rivers Veterinary team! We’ve enjoyed getting to know her and are so excited to incorporate her unique skill-set and approach to patient care. To help introduce her, we’re sending her bio to your inbox!

Dr. Andrea Methven knew she wanted to be a veterinarian since she was a young girl.  She grew up in Southeast Portland surrounded by cats, dogs, pocket pets, horses and livestock.  She always considered herself lucky to have grown up to be a “cat lady” after adopting several pregnant stray cats from the neighborhood.  One of her earliest experiences with veterinary medicine was working with the Feral Cat Coalition of Portland to spay and neuter the kittens and neighborhood stray cats and caring for them during their recovery.

Dr. Methven graduated from Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018.  During veterinary school, she pursued acupuncture training at Chi University which sparked her love for practicing integrative medicine – the combination of both Western Medicine and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM).  Her interests include acupuncture, preventive care, pain management, dentistry, and nutrition.  Dr. Methven recently completed her Certification in Food Therapy (CVFT) – utilizing food as medicine, including formulating and balancing homemade diets.  She is currently working on her training and certification in Chinese Herbal Medicine.

In her free time, Dr. Methven enjoys spending time with friends and family by exploring the Portland food scene, traveling, gardening, and hiking with her Chihuahua mix, Mo.  During the winter, you might catch her on the field at the Portland Indoor Soccer Center; and during the warm months she may zip by you on a wakeboard on the Willamette River.

We encourage you to schedule with Dr. Methven the next time your pet needs to come see us!
